Development and preliminary clinical evaluation of a unified combined laser hair removal protocol for patients with low hair melanin content and Fitzpatrick skin type VI

Biography:

Viktoriia Sagdeeva is a laser hair removal specialist, researcher, and founder of Tori Beauty Space LLC (Florida, USA). She developed an original combined laser and waxing protocol for difficult patient groups, has performed more than 10,000 laser procedures, and is the author of scientific publications and educational materials in aesthetic medicine and laser hair removal.

Research Interests:

Standard laser hair removal protocols demonstrate limited efficacy for patients with low hair melanin content (blond, red, and gray hair) and for darker skin phototypes. We developed a unified combined protocol consisting of an initial laser pass on 2-mm hair, wax epilation, and a second laser pass using optimized parameters. A prospective clinical evaluation enrolled 42 participants, including individuals with low-melanin hair and Fitzpatrick skin type VI with recurrent folliculitis. Clinical outcomes were assessed by dermoscopic hair-density measurements, safety evaluation, and reduction of ingrown hairs. The protocol demonstrated clinically meaningful improvement while maintaining a favorable safety profile with no serious adverse events. These preliminary findings support further multicenter evaluation of this combined treatment strategy.
